The National Thai Studies Centre, which manages its own NTSC website, is located in the Faculty of Asian Studies at the Australian National University. The Centre provides a national focus for developing the study of Thailand and the Thai language in Australian education and for stimulating business interest in training and briefing services.

The goal of the Centre is to further teaching, research, and public awareness in Australia of all aspects of Thai language, society, culture, and economy and by this, endeavour to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.

The National Thai Studies Centre undertakes an extensive research in anthropology, economics, environment, demography, geography, history, linguistics and other fields. Library collections are outstanding in these areas. Students of the Thai language may pursue advanced study through the reading of Thai professional texts in these disciplines and may participate in general Centre activities.

The Thai and Lao degree programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students taking degrees in the Faculty of Asian Studies as well as to students enrolled in other Faculties at the Australian National University.

Students are welcome to discuss their decisions on courses and degrees with the Centre's teachers.
