Ms Yang [BA(Nankai); GradDip, MA(ANU); Lecturer with the China and Korea Centre] specialises in the language, economics and economic development of China and Taiwan. She teaches the units 'Modern Chinese C, D, E, & F'. Ms Yang is currently researching the incorporation of Western economic thought in Chinese economic reforms. Her secondary research interest is in the comparative study of the syntactic structures of Chinese and English.
Amongst her publications are 'US Trade Laws and their Implications on China's Foreign Trade 1981-88', Foreign Trade Reporter ; Almanac of China's Foreign Economic Relations and Trade (1986,1987 & 1988 editions); and the 'Chinese Economy' section of the Microsoft Encarta Encyclopaedia (1999 and 2000 editions).
She is a member of the ACT Chinese Teachers Association and is a member Organising Committee of the Australian National Chinese Eistedford. She has served as an on-call interpreter/translator for Australian government leaders and ministers. She also interprets and translates for delegations visiting Australia from China.
