Mr Sutiyono, BA, M Ed (Satya Wacana), MA (Applied Linguistics, Sydney) is a tutor of Indonesian and Modern Javanese at the Southeast Asia Centre. In addition, he is also the coordinator for the In-country Language Projects and the course ASIA3007 (Practical Assignment in Southeast Asia). His research interests are concerned with foreign language learning and cross-cultural adjustment.

His teaching career has been spent mostly as a full time lecturer at the English Department, Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU). He taught a number of courses: among others, Linguistics, Language Teaching Methods, Translation, Language Training Management, and Teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language (TIFL). He is an experienced teacher of Javanese and Indonesian to English speaking learners both in SWCU and overseas including teaching Indonesian at the University of Sydney, Monash University, and RAAF School Languages at Point Cook, Victoria. For several years, he was the Program Director of the Intensive Indonesian Program at SWCU. He was the language consultant for the writing of 'Kenalilah Indonesia', Indonesian textbooks written by Hibbs, Stobbe, and Ure for Australian high school students.

Mr Sutiyono has extensive experience in university management at SWCU. This includes as Head of English Department, Director of the Language Centre, Deputy Rector for Student Affairs and Community Services, and Dean of the Faculty of Language and Literature. He has played an active role in developing new programs and cooperation with a number of foreign universities and institutions.
