Accessing the Calendar

To use the calendar, go to http://orient.anu.edu.au/calendars/. You will be prompted to enter your university username and password. This is your ANU "u" or "a" number and the corresponding password.

If you have an account on the calendar system you can add events and view non-public events. But first you must log in a second time. Click the "Login" link at the bottom of the page. This time use your Faculty of Asian Studies username and password.

Viewing calendars

If you have logged in using your Faculty of Asian Studies username and password, then you can view any calendar on the system.

  • By default you will be seeing your own calendar if you have one. To see the public calendar, click on Faculty of Asian Studies Group Calendar at the bottom of the page.
  • To see another user's private calendar, click on "Another User's Calendar" and select the user whose calendar you wish to view.
  • To go back to your own calendar, click Back to My Calendar.

If you don't have a Faculty of Asian Studies username and password you will be able to view only the public Faculty of Asian Studies Group Calendar. This will come up by default.

Adding an event

  • When you're logged in, you should see "+" signs in every time slot of calendars that you view. Click a "+" sign to add an event at that time.
  • Enter a description of the event, and set its duration. Choose an appropriate category from the right-hand side; for example, events relevant to the Japan Centre should go in the Japan Centre category. Optionally, set a priority for the event (high, medium, or low priority). Leave the access set to "Public", even if this is a private event.
  • Now click on the Participants tab. Here you can select the calendars in which the event should appear. The ones named after staff members are the private calendars. To make an event visible to all logged-in users, select Faculty of Asian Studies Group Calendar. You can select multiple people by holding down the Ctrl key (or the Cmd key if you're using a Macintosh) and clicking them; for example, if Greg Young is participating in a public event, you could select both Greg Young and the Faculty of Asian Studies Group Calendar. Then it will appear on Greg's calendar, and it will also be visible to everyone logged in to the Calendar.
