Dr Christine Campbell [B.A.Hons., London; Dip. Ed UC; M.A. UNSW; Ph.D ANU; Visiting Fellow with the Southeast Asia Centre] specializes in the literature of Malaysia and Singapore and is presently engaged in a research project on the images of women in the manuscript tradition and in the modern Malay novel, as well as in literary translation from Malay into English.
Her publications include Coat-Tails of Empire , The ADFA Letters. Freya Starkes Correspondence with Sir Harry Luke; The Wave of Life , translated from Alun Hidup by Khadijah Hashim and numerous articles in scholarly journals. She is currently editing an edition of Review of Indonesian and Malaysian Affairs and her latest book, Contrary Visions: Women and Work in Malay Women-Authored Novels after the Independence Period 1960-1995 is currently in press.
